Voluntary Action South Ayrshire (VASA)
We have had a longstanding relationship with VASA and they were integral in us delivering our first community based classes, within our own studios.
Working alongside Alzheimer’s Scotland Volunteers, we have delivered classes both at Alzheimer community groups and in Crosshouse hospital, delivering our AIAS classes to long and short- term patients.
We take our Art in a Suitcase class in to around 35 Care Homes across Ayrshire and East Renfrewshire, delivering our structured Art classes.
NHS CST groups
We work with local Cognitive Stimulation Groups in Troon and Ayr, delivering monthly classes to their social groups.
The new Dementia Arts Hub
Our Hub, opening on the 18th November 2020, will be stationed in Troon and will offer a friendly service to provide information for those living with dementia. For more information, click here.
We presented our Dementia Art class to Level 6 Health & Social care students.
*Due to Covid19, In these areas we are currently operating on a remote / digital basis and providing alternate ways
to support people living with Dementia through art.
"As part of our therapeutic activity group based in Crosshouse Hospital we were delighted to collaborate with AIAS. Their programme was varied, thoughtfully planned and our hospital clients engaged well with the activity. The art practitioners clearly had a lot of experience of working with people with dementia, they were very kind and encouraging. The afternoons flew by with a lot of fun and laughter".
Jill Haigh - Volunteer Co-ordinator for Alzheimer's Scotland
"I like the laughing when we are drawing together"
"I enjoyed it so much I forgot to drink my tea!"
